This morning, just after awaking from a great night's sleep, I scooted to the end of my bed, sat up, looked out my bedroom window, and did absolutely nothing for twenty minutes. As my eyes adjusted to the light, thoughts of plans for the day and recent dreams fleeted through my emptying mind, accompanied by music from a song stuck in my head from my radio-alarm clock. But after awhile, these things slowly began to vanish, as if I was falling into deep sleep but I was wide awake. My senses became more aware of the world around me, and so did I.
Nothing. It filled the air like the loudest symphony. A chorus of birds chirping happily outside my window created the most wonderful soprano. Cars passing by became the alto of this harmony as the wind in the trees made for perfect percussion. Soon, a plane passing over added its solo to this fusion of natural and technological sound. I listened as the world's symphony took me away from the commercial music inside me and lifted me into its graceful nature.
While the sounds of nothing occupied my ears with amazing music, the beauty of nothing filled my eyes with bright colors in every hue. Inside of my house was a tired combination of neutrals, but outside my window the fantastic colors of nature were screaming to be viewed. Bright red apples on the greenest of trees, birds of yellow and blue, flowers which reflected every color of the rainbow, all under a sky of the bluest of blues. A masterpiece from the canvas of mother nature.
Somehow, however, it all goes unnoticed. People walk or drive right through the beauty without even a passing glance. I can admit that I too have been the busy student with time only for study. While my twenty minutes may be over, their affect will last a lifetime. taking time to "stop and smell the roses" could be all we need for a life of beauty and happiness.

I love how you use music in relation to nature. Soprano and Alto harmony everywhere. Music. It is there...we only have to be silent ourselves to hear it.
